Beyond Easter -rethinking impossible – Week 6
John 17:1-11

Download

Jesus has provided a way for us to see the difference between a life that has a dead end and one that offers eternal living. When we intentionally choose to live in isolation we choose a dead end for ourselves. We choose to ignore the heart of God. When we see how valuable we are to each other, and to the
spreading of the hope of Jesus we step into life eternal. The way Jesus lived on this earth revealed the heartbeat of God. The way Jesus lives now reveals the heartbeat of God in each of us. The heartbeat of God is eternal. Are we willing to see it, hear it, and live it?

Questions For Reflection:

  • Do you want to know the heart of God?
  • Will you give your life to Jesus?
  • Are you allowing Jesus’ prayer to be answered in your life?

Beyond Easter -rethinking impossible – Week 5
John 14:15-21

The way of Jesus leads to love. It is a love that captures our souls all the way to the depths of who we are. It is this love that draws us and moves us towards Jesus. It is this love that is at the core of God. We know this because that’s why Jesus came in the first place. However, we have a choice whether or not to allow this love to invade our lives. When we open ourselves up to this love the Spirit of Jesus is free to move in us in such a way that we can suddenly do the impossible, become more like Jesus.

Questions For Reflection:

  • Have you allowed love to invade your life?
  • Are you trying to live like Jesus?
  • Is Jesus alive in your life?

Beyond Easter -rethinking impossible – Week 4
John 10:1-10

Download

There is a longing every person has to experience contentment and rest in our existence. At the end of the day, if we’re willing to open our eyes to it, our search for truth will always lead us back to the Presence of the Creator. The Creator who has placed His DNA in all of us. He welcomes us and invites us to live in Him and He in us. This is why it is now possible, because of the resurrected Jesus, for us to actually live in the freedom of knowing our true selves found in God the Father.

Questions For Reflection:

  • Is Jesus at home in you?
  • Are you paying attention to the God reminders in your life?
  • Is your life a positive reflection of the Presence of God in you?

John 10:1-10

God has made it possible for everyone to live a life filled with His presence and love. A life that actually has the fulfillment of purpose, and definition of our existence, we all seem to be looking for on this planet. If we will listen to the voice of Jesus He will lead us to this kind of life. It is a life that is impossible to have outside of Jesus.

Questions For Reflection:

  • Do you have this kind of life?
  • What is keeping you from hearing the voice of Jesus?
  • This week what can you do to better hear His voice?

Beyond Easter -rethinking impossible – Week 2
Luke 24:13-25

The resurrection of Jesus is about so much more than a happy spring time story. The deep implications of this impossible occurrence reveal that there is more to life than what is temporarily visible to us now. It makes available to us the ability to unmask the deepest parts of our existence. When we really know Jesus then and only then can we really know ourselves and what God wants to do in our lives.

Questions For Reflection:

  • Do you really know Jesus?
  • What is keeping you blind?
  • Where do you need to go from here?

Beyond Easter -rethinking impossible – Week 1
John 20:19-31

When Hope came back to life in the form of Jesus it changed everything. What once was thought to be impossible has now shaken all of history to its core. The challenge lies in whether or not we will allow ourselves to see what now has become possible. Does the world have to stay the way it is? Do we have what it takes to experience and bring restoring life into the space around us? Jesus invites us to believe in Him and in His power to bring life out of death, to rethink the impossible.

Questions For Reflection:

  • Do you want to see Jesus?
  • Are you experiencing the Peace Jesus offers?
  • How can you have life by the power of His name?

Easter
Matthew 28:1-10

Download

This is the biggest weekend of the year for those who are followers of Jesus. We celebrate what is at the heart of our identity. We recognize God has entered into the brokenness of all creation and
has undone the power of hopelessness. The choice is ours; will we embrace the hope of a God who is showing us the way to life or choose to ignore what He has done for us. The question really isn’t “is there hope?”. The real question is “what are we hoping for?”.

Questions For Reflection:

  • What will be different in your life beginning this Easter?
  • Do you see what God has done for you?
  • Are you living and sharing the hope of His restoration power?

What Brings Fulfillment?
We have been told that glory brings fulfillment. We chase after glory in all areas of our life. Soon enough we realize that others are chasing after glory too. So we work harder and harder to make sure we get there first. It’s hard to blame James and John for trying to get to the throne of Jesus before the others. We’d do it too. But Jesus responds by saying that true fulfillment comes when we lay down our pursuit of glory for the sake of others. We
must be willing to “lose” in order to have anti pharmacy fungal true victory.

Questions For Reflection:

  • Are you chasing after your own glory?
  • What do you need to give up today that has become an idol in
    your life?
  • Where can you lay down your life for our youth, children and
    others in need?

What – Life’s Biggest Questions – Week 4
Acts 17:16-34

The search for God is as natural to being human as breathing. The key to finding God is realizing he’s not the one who’s lost. God is actually looking for us. The yearning to find God has been placed inside of us by God. The One true God will go to any length within the boundary of our free will to awaken us to His Presence and love. The real question is where are you?

Questions For Reflection:

  • Are there gods other than Jesus in your life that you’re following?
  • What are some ways that God is trying to reveal Himself to you?
  • Are you hiding from God?

John 8:1-11

Who doesn’t want to feel like they belong? There is nothing like knowing you are loved and accepted for who you are with no strings attached. Unfortunately, if we’re honest with ourselves, we have a hard time with the concept of no strings attached. Jesus wants us to come to grips with it. He accepts us, but His acceptance is powerful and it calls us to live into it. We don’t have to try and be anyone else. We can stop chasing after acceptance from sources that will leave us with a false identity.

Questions For Reflection:

  • What is keeping you from experiencing the power of Jesus’
    acceptance?
  • What are you hanging onto or chasing that keeps you empty?
  • What are you doing to help others realize the acceptance of Jesus?

Mark 12: 28-34

We give our time and energy to a lot of things week in and week out. You may be a to-do list keeper to try and keep your priorities in line. Of all the things seeking our definition, time and energy, what matters most? God calls us to love him with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength. What does that mean? I wonder what would happen if we allowed ourselves to be defined by God’s love?

Questions For Reflection:

  • Whose definition of yourself are you living into?
  • Do all the parts of your life lead back to Jesus?

The search for truth about our identity is the timeless pursuit every single human has sought for in their life. Whether we readily admit it doesn’t negate the fact that it is what we deeply long for. It is what informs our decisions and influences our relationships. What if the starting point of understanding the truth about our identity, begins with Jesus? What if the truth about who we are is wrapped in the truth about who Jesus is?

Questions For Reflection:

  • What is God telling you about Jesus?
  • What is Jesus telling you about yourself?
  • Have you opened your life up to His healing?

Do Not Be Afraid – Week 1
Matthew 17:1-8

The challenge to become more like Jesus can feel difficult and overwhelming. There are circumstances and even the potential of terrifying encounters everywhere we turn in life. However if we’ll listen to the voice of Jesus He will remind us we do not have to be afraid of the life He wants for us. He has given us everything we need to go live it.

Questions For Reflection:

  • Is God speaking to you?
  • Do you recognize His voice calling to you?
  • What is keeping you from going and living like Jesus?

Practical Jesus – Week 4
Matthew 5:38-48

Download

Jesus wants to set us free from the vicious cycle of hurting each other.  It takes great courage and trust to believe that God’s design for living invites us to see a much bigger picture of life. When we live into God’s design for living, we no longer see enemies as less than human, but see them as people who have been created by the God we claim to love and follow. When we live like this we are actually experiencing what it means to be fully human, living the way God intended us to live.

Questions For Reflection:

  • Have you accepted God’s forgiveness?
  • Have you had explosive thoughts towards others?
  • Are you caught in a vicious cycle of hurt and anger toward anyone?

Practical Jesus – Week 3
Matthew 5:31-37

There was a dumpster fire located outside of Jerusalem where trash was burned. It was filthy. It had a constant smoulder and even bred a special type of worm that was hard to kill. Such a place had to be contained. Jesus says that hell is like this dumpster fire, and every choice we make either contains the fire or unleashes it onto the world. It is possible for our hearts to be consumed by this fire. But Jesus offers us a life of peace that the fire cannot overcome.

Questions For Reflection:

  • Who is someone that you need to be reconciled with?
  • What is a source of anxiety you need to step away from?
  • Have you chosen the peace that Jess offers?

Practical Jesus – Week 2
Matthew 5:13-26

These days we hear a lot about alternative options. There’s alternative living and alternative facts all suggesting that there are multiple ways of doing stuff and understanding perspectives. The words of Jesus reveal that in order to experience a fulfilled life we must live in a way that illuminates the healing power of God’s love in this world. There is no alternative. This is exactly why Jesus came in the first place.

Questions For Reflection:

  • Have you given your life to God?
  • Are you illuminating the darkness or hiding in it?
  • What does your life say about Jesus?

Come and See

John 1:29-42

We’ve all searched for stuff we thought would make our lives better, it’s simply a part of life. The kind of stuff could range from relationships to careers to basic needs sorts of stuff. If you had the chance to sit down with God and he were to ask you what are you looking for, what would you say?  God knows exactly what we are looking for and he has extended an invitation to all of us to come and see the One who can offer us a better way to live.

Reflection Questions

  • What are you really looking for from Jesus?
  • Does your life invite others to come and see?
  • This week what will you do to prepare for renewal?

Togetherness

Acts 10:34-43

The need to embrace others and to see the value of experiencing the life God wants for us together can not be understated.  Sin thrives on isolation like mold in a dark, damp room.  But Jesus has leveled the playing field and provided a way for all to live into the peace of God.

Reflection Questions

  • Are you at peace with God?
  • Are you living into your baptism?
  • Have you embraced others in the faith?
